JUDD WANTS WINTERNATIONALS!

Perth business consultant Robin Judd is a man on a mission. Judd and his team are travelling to Willowbank International Raceway, Queensland with one purpose in mind, to win the Gold Top Doorslammer 'Christmas Tree' trophy at the 2001 Konica Winternationals.

The June, 8 - 10 three day event will be Queensland's biggest dragracing showcase for the season. The Winternationals boast attendance's of over 40,000 spectators and 400 entries each year.

The 2000 Winternationals saw Judd run an equal world record 6.17 in qualifying. Andrew Searle ran 6.25 in the other lane making it the quickest side by side pass in history. "Not even the pro mods in the USA have been that quick", Judd said reflecting on the enormity of the achievement.

"The Doorslammer racers in Australia are showing the yanks our cars are just as quick, if not quicker. It is a marvelous fete when you think of it, considering we have nowhere near the resources or actual track time they have."

Judd will have plenty of competition at the 2001 Winternationals. At least twelve entries are expected to be trying out for the eight qualifying spots. These include local heroes, six time Australian Champion Victor Bray, Top Alcohol ace Gary Phillips, Brett Stevens, Andrew Searle, Les Winter and Kym Petterwood. Also entered are Victorians Peter Kapiris and Marcus Chambers plus South Australian Paul Greghini. From Sydney will be Alf Sorbello and Rob Broadbent.

Judd commented on the forthcoming battle, "The competition has become fierce in this bracket which is great for the sport. It makes it tough for anyone to dominate so you have to expect the unexpected. We have had our fair share of bad luck this season so I reckon it's our turn to win. We have the car, the team and the desire - we just have to put it all together".
