SRC NEWS 5 JUNE 2006

Perth , Western Australia June 5, 2006 The "Moonshine Bandit" is ready to compete at Willowbank Raceway for the 38 th running of the Winternationals scheduled for June 9 - 11, 2006. Top Doorslammer driver Robin Judd is hoping for a bold showing in preparation for the 2006/07 Championship conceding this year’s championship is just too far out of reach.

"The Stanic/Belleri team have it (ATDC) sewn up this year", Judd Lamented. "We went closer to winning the championship than we have in a long time. Had a couple of things gone our way we would have given them a fright."

A string of consistent 6.1’s and 6.0’s had Judd runner up in his last two races, closing in the points gap between he, Stanic and Zappia. Unfortunately a family commitment stopped Judd from competing in the 6th round (Tin Tops, Willowbank) held in April. Stanic won that round with Phillips runner up. Zappia made the Semi’s and claimed low ET bonus points.

Judd said "The points battle has been fierce with the lead and top 5 places changing a few times during the season. Stanic has been the most consistent and deserves the title. We are looking forward to next season because we believe we have the right package to run quick and maintain consistency to go rounds. Top Doorslammer is so competitive these days and with more teams coming into the bracket you cannot afford to slip up at any time. The Winternationals will follow our normal routine, which is to try and qualify first then take each elimination round as it comes."

The 2006 Winternationals has an unprecedented 20 cars entered to fight out the 8 car Top Doorslammer field. Given this number it is conceivable the bump spot will be a record also.
