After a disappointing previous round of the ATDC, Perth racer Robin Judd was handed the runner-up Trophy for the “A” final in Top Comp, a Group 2 event which enables all supercharged vehicles to race one another on a handicapped basis.
The Judd team use their local “Top Comp” meetings as test and tune sessions for the National Top Doorslammer Championship rounds. A steady 6.40 in the seeding session was enough to make the A final, won by the world’s quickest small block AA/Altered of Mark Sheehan. Sheehan posted a 6.342 to Judd’s 6.566 after top qualifying earlier with a 6.088, nearly a full second under his index. Judd was happy with the car’s performance running up to the Nationals at Willowbank next month.
“I am pleased we’ve been able to put down some consistent numbers and the car seems happy. We have a good base to work from now going into the Nationals” Round 3 of the ATDC will be an event at the Australian Nationals to be held at Willowbank International Raceway on January 17 – 19, 2003.
