Judd contends with DNQ tag in Round 2 Round 2: 29,30 November 2002

Kwinana: Perth racer Robin Judd bowed out of the second round of the ATDC, after the car’s supercharger was damaged during his first qualifier on the Friday night.

“We were always behind the 8 ball for some reason this meet. After having a few dramas at the workshop we didn’t get to the track until late, missing the first (of three) qualifiers. The second qualifier was a slow but reasonable 6.757 pass. I knew something wasn’t right. We were keeping an eye on one of the engine bearings. This distraction cost us time while we dropped the pan and checked the bearings. Going to start the car in the pits for a final check we discovered one of the supercharger’s rotors had been badly damaged in the run. We had a spare but ran out of time to fit it before the call up for the last qualifier. The bump was 6.45 so we didn’t make the field. Like they say, that’s dragracing”, Judd lamented.

Current champion Peter Kapiris went on to win the event from Victor Bray with a ET of 6.092 over a 6.225.
